where do you sell your soap?
ye, i was going to ask “do you think this is a worthwhile thing to do”
why does the water became hot when you put sodium peroxide ? sorry i dunno anything bout this
its a chemical reaction
thx!
how many degrees should the lye and oils be?
I like mine to be @ 115-120
Why is not coming in contact with the sodium peroxide so important?
Before the chemical process called saponification is finished, Sodium hydroxide in it’s raw form can cause severe chemical burns to the skin and mucus membranes. That is why you wear gloves and a mask on your face. I dont use a mask, but gloves are a must! The oils and water mi with the S.Hydroxide and the chemical properties change making them safe for skin.
What oil/oils did you use in this demonstration? Since as far as I know, each type of oil have different fatty acid content, so what oil did you use to have that kind of Lye-oil ratio?
if you watch fight club it will show how the sodium peroxide burns the skin and that the treatment is vinegar
WORD! lol
Cool vid! Are your ingredients organic?
where did you find the oils. (coconut, palm, castor oil and shae butter)
what is lye
Sodium Hydroxide, it’s the chemical (naturally derived by the way) that reacts to the oils and saponifies them. Basically it is what makes it bath soap and not bath oil.
hello, my question is how do you know how much lye you should use for your soap?
love that you made soap in your tidy kitchen instead of outside in a barn like it’s some kind of nuclear reaction! you gave us the measurements on you lye and water, would you do the same for the oils? I’m ready to do my first batch and would like to know it’s going to turn out!
BTW…go to a second hand store, I’ve purchased several stick blenders for smoothie making for $5.00 each and they were top brand name!
do u mesure the weight of an ounce or just an ounce bc they r different:O)
All measurements are done by weight, it’s far more accurate. An ounce measure on a measuring cup and an ounce on a scale are different depending on the liquid. oils weigh more than water, so its crucial to weigh them out!
so everything is done by weight:O)
yepp, even my essential oils
do you sell your soaps if so were can i get them i wanna give em a try please lol
heidi
how much oil did you have in the pan???
great walk through btw
Before you added your lye water, how much did your oil weigh? You put 7 oz of water to 3.5 oz of lye. Is it always 1:2 ratio for the lye & water measurements? For example, if you use 160 oz of water, would you use 80 oz of lye or if you use 50 oz of water would you use 25 oz of lye?
